The Academy for the Judiciary held the second Crime Prevention Advisory Conference for the year 2025 on July 25. The conference was chaired by President Wu Hsun-Lung and attended by approximately 30 participants, including 13 advisory committee members, heads of relevant departments and agencies such as the Department of Prosecutorial Affairs, Department of Prevention, Rehabilitation and Protection, and the Agency of Corrections under the Ministry of Justice, as well as academic advisory scholars and colleagues from the Crime Prevention Research Center.
The purpose of the conference served not only as a platform but also to foster a strategic alliance between the academic and practical sectors to jointly plan, discuss, and promote various criminal justice policies and crime prevention research, thereby providing valuable reference for the government to refine national policies. Dr. Victor Cheng, Director of the Crime Prevention Research Center, reported on the center's key accomplishments during the first half of 2025 and outlined future work plans. The attending committee members reviewed two proposed outsourced research projects scheduled for 2026:
- Assessing the Feasibility of Introducing Corporate Criminal Liability in Taiwan: An In-Depth Study of Foreign Corporate Criminal Procedure Laws
- National Crime Victimization Report, 2025: A Decadal Trend and Victimization Services Survey (2016–2025)
President Wu delivered welcoming remarks to the newly appointed committee member, Director Lin Hsien-Ming of the Agency of Corrections, and expressed his hope that the Crime Prevention Research Center of the Academy for the Judiciary will continue to deliver substantial research results aligned with societal needs and contribute meaningfully to the development of national crime prevention policies.
