The Journal of Criminal Policies and Crime Prevention, published by the Academy for the Judiciary, has been awarded the prestigious “Real-Time Communication Award – Popular Category” as part of the 2024 Taiwan Journal Resource Academic Energy Report, issued by the National Central Library. The award ceremony was held on April 28, 2025, at the International Conference Hall of the National Central Library’s Arts and Culture Center. The award was presented by Director Ms. Wang Han-Ching and received on behalf of the Academy by Dr. Cheng Tien-Cheng, Director of the Crime Prevention Research Center and Chief Editor of the journal.
As Taiwan’s official legal depository and a guardian of scholarly communication, the National Central Library plays a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the nation’s academic output. The annual Academic Energy Report offers a comprehensive analysis of over 3.35 million bibliographic records and 2.42 million full-text journal articles housed within the Library’s Journal System. It evaluates electronic download statistics, usage trends, keyword frequencies, and citation analytics across disciplines. Drawing from the Taiwan Citation Index (TCI)—a database containing over 3.56 million source documents and 8.69 million citation records—the report also tracks citation impact, five-year influence factors, and cumulative performance indicators. Based on these rigorous benchmarks, the National Central Library annually honors outstanding journals and publishing institutions that demonstrate excellence in dissemination, influence, and public engagement.
As the English proverb made famous by Sir Isaac Newton reminds us: “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Since its inaugural issue in July 2014, the Journal of Criminal Policies and Crime Prevention has published 40 issues, contributing significantly to discourse on crime prevention, justice policy, and legal reform in Taiwan and beyond. This national recognition not only affirms the Academy’s sustained contributions to scholarly communication in the field of criminal justice but also reflects our unwavering commitment to open access publishing, intellectual exchange, and evidence-informed policymaking.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the National Central Library for this esteemed honor, and to all past and present members of our editorial board for their tireless work in shaping the journal’s quality and direction. We are equally grateful to the community of researchers, practitioners, and readers whose ongoing support has enabled the journal to thrive as a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary scholarship. Looking ahead, the Academy remains committed to upholding the highest standards of editorial excellence, deepening our engagement with emerging research, and broadening the horizons of criminal policy and crime prevention. We warmly welcome submissions from scholars across disciplines and regions, and encourage both established and early-career researchers to join us in advancing this critical field. Together, through dialogue, innovation, and collaboration, we will continue building a resilient and impactful academic ecosystem.
