In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the National Epidemic Level 3 Alert has been extended to July 26th. The following epidemic prevention measures for the Judicial Officer and the Prosecutors Selection Classes of the Academy for the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice were extended to July 30th while the oral examinations in third-phase for the 60th Judicial Officer Class and the 3rd Prosecutors Selection Class, and the Judgment Tests for the 3rd Prosecutors Selection Class will be conducted online concurrently. The implementation of subsequent courses will be adjusted according to the evolution of the epidemic:
1. Due to the epidemic, all District Courts and District Prosecutors Offices will cancel or suspend their service and court activities. During this period, the judges and prosecutors in each District Court and District Prosecutors Office, who double as instructors of the Academy, will entrust other judges and prosecutors with the task of guiding the trainees through the learning process by assisting and providing access to the decided cases for them to read and practice drafting in lieu of the scheduled study sessions. If, as per the regulations, the number of duty or court sessions cannot be reached due to the epidemic, the issue will be treated on a case-by-case basis.
2. Concerning whether the weekly reports and visiting activities of the various District Courts and District Prosecutors Offices are conducted as scheduled, the specific epidemic prevention measures of each District Court and District Prosecutors Office shall be respected.
3. Each student is required to follow the precautionary measures, including quarantine and application for leave, under the regulations of the District Court and District Prosecutors Office’s learning institutions.
4. The third-phase training periods for the 60th Judicial Officer Class and the Prosecutors Selection Class are scheduled from May 31st to August 25th, 2021 and from July 19th to August 25th, 2021 respectively. Currently and until July 30th, 2021 the courses will be taught online to avoid the risk of spread of the disease due to the movement of the people involved. Trainees, in principle, do not go to the Academy but adopt a home-based model of course learning, and, if the home network or equipment problems prevent them from studying at home, they may stay at the Academy for the entire training period. Trainees will be assigned a dormitory to stay in and attend online classes online in the dormitory. The implementation of subsequent courses will be adjusted according to the situation of the epidemic.
