2022/12/13 The Academy has organized the "2022 Academic Conference on Criminal Policy and Crime Prevention Research" and the Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation Award Presentation Ceremony

  On December 13th, 2022 (Tuesday), the Academy held the "2022 Academic Conference on Criminal Policy and Crime Prevention Research". The conference featured four main themes: "2021 Crime Situations and Analyses: A focus on the Covid-19 pandemic and data on females and the elderly", "An Analysis of Game Points-Related Crimes: An Observation Based on Categories of Court Decisions", "The effectiveness of the Autonomous Out-Prison Labor program in Taiwan-The evaluation of its impact on recidivist prevention mechanism", and "Research on the development and changes of the guardianship system in Taiwan". Through empirical research, the conference aimed to provide recommendations on crime prevention and corrections, as well as criminal policy development.

  The Academy also established an annual "Outstanding Master's and Doctoral Thesis/ Dissertation Awards on Crime Prevention and Corrections" program to recognize and encourage outstanding talents in the field of crime prevention, corrections, and criminal policy research. This year, a total of nine master/doctoral students received these awards. The Thesis/Dissertation Awards Ceremony was attended by the Minister of Justice, Ching-Hsiang TSAI, who gave a speech and presented certificates to the award recipients. The ceremony aimed to inspire and motivate the students to continue pursuing excellence in their research.

  In his opening address, Minister TSAI stated that the four themes of the conference aligned with the current needs of criminal policy development, highlighting the practical significance as well as the academic value of the research. He also extended his congratulations to the Master’s and Ph.D. students who had received awards and encouraged them to continue making contributions to the field of crime prevention and corrections research.

  The "2022 Academic Conference on Criminal Policy and Crime Prevention Research" was well-attended by a diverse group of participants from the educational and practical sectors. The conference consisted of four sessions of lively discussions, which took place in the morning and afternoon. The event was a success and concluded successfully.
