2013/10/14 2013 International Symposium on EU Criminal Human Rights Protection

 

On October 14, 2013, the 2013 International Symposium on EU Criminal Human Rights Protection took place in the Academy for the Judiciary.  Prof. Dr. Harald Raimund Dreßing and Judge Cristian Schmitz-Justen, vice-president of the district court in Cologne, Germany, were invited to talk about “the role of forensic psychiatry in the judicial system of European Union States” and “requirements for a psychiatric examination in criminal procedures” respectively, while the topic of Judge of the French Court of Appeal Claire Morice’s speech was “the compensation of crime victims in France.”   Moreover, Director Joseph Middleton, barrister of Doughty Street Chambers, UK, spoke about “sentencing standards in death penalty cases” and “training of judicial professionals in death penalty cases in Europe and beyond”
