“The Workshop on Leadership of Chief Prosecutors” was held from March 25 to 27, 2019

To increase Chief Prosecutors's ability in the aspects of policy formulation, organization management, leadership and control, communication and coordination, and public relations, the Academy for the Judiciary, for the first time, organized the "Workshop on Leadership of Chief Prosecutors" with Taiwan High Prosecutors Office from March 25 to 27, 2019. A total of 28 Chief Prosecutors of the First and Second Instances joined the event. Prosecutor-General Hui-Ming Chiang of the Supreme Prosecutors Office also participated in the entire course to facilitate the exchange between Chief Prosecutors of different levels of court. The three-day workshop was designed to enhance the leadership of Chief Prosecutors and expand their horizons. The event incorporated two-day indoor lectures at Plato Auditorium of the Academy with a field trip to Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corporation (THSR) on the last day. Chief Prosecutor Tian-Sheng Wang hosted the opening ceremony and gave a speech. Minister Ching-Hsiang Tsai of Justice, Prosecutor-General Hui-Ming Chiang of the Supreme Prosecutors Office, General Manager of Super Academy Aston Lee, Minister Jay N. Shih of Directorate-General of Personnel Administration of Executive Yuan, General Manager Emile Chih-Jen Sheng of LDC Hotels & Resorts, Su-E Su, Head of Criminal Department of Judicial Yuan, Deputy Director Wen-Cheng Liao of Budget Center of Legislative Yuan, and Minister Mei-Ling Chen of National Development Council were invited as the guest speakers. The topics included policy focus of legal affairs and administration, issues of prosecution cases, communication in the Era of New Media, government's challenges of the new environment governance, leadership and organization management, the new trend of criminal justice in Taiwan, formulation, deliberation and execution of the Central Government General Budget Proposal, and the critical directions and policies of national development. In the first two days, speakers shared their experiences and exchanged views with participating Chief Prosecutors. At the final day, participants visited THSR's Operation Management Center in Taoyuan. The company's General Manager Guang-Yuan Cheng spoke on "THSR's Organizational Change" and shared practical experiences, followed by a tour of the company's Traffic Control Center and Emergency Response Center. Later in the afternoon, the group headed to THSR's base in Wujih, Taichung, visiting the Rolling Stock Maintenance facility and learning about equipment maintenance and repair. Afterward, the crew returned to Taichung HSR Station, and the workshop was rounded off. Participating Chief Prosecutors all highly recognized the three-day program, praising the carefully-designed courses and the well-organized field trip for being different from traditional on-the-job training. According to the participants, they benefited greatly from the event and believed the knowledge they have learned would improve their future work.
