The Academy has enjoyed deep friendship with Waseda University, and together with National Taiwan University (NTU), the three educational institutes have decided to collaborate on the original files of criminal court rulings made at Taichung District Court during the Japanese Occupation Period. The original files are now archived at the Academy. Waseda University will compile digital indexes, provide them to the Academy’s library and make them public at NTU Library’s database dedicated to court files during the Japanese Occupation Period. On November 28, 2017, Professor ASAKO Hiroshi, dean of Waseda Institute for East Asian Legal Studies, visited President Tsai Pi-Yu of the AJMJ with an MOU signed by Director Shunsuke HANAI of the Comprehensive Research Organization, Waseda University. President Tsai signed the MOU for Professor Asako to retrieve. The content of the MOU is not only a reflection of the substantive exchanges between the two parties but also a major and significant contribution to the research efforts of both nations in terms of court rulings during the Japanese Occupation Period.
