2017/04/10&11 Continuing Education for Prosecutors – “Food Safety Workshop” – Was Held

In order to enhance professional knowledge and cultivate interdisciplinary expertise of prosecutors in their process of investigating food safety related cases, the Academy held a “Food Safety Workshop” on April 10th-11th of 2017.
Southern Center Director Liu Fan-Ming and Northern Center Technical Specialist Wang Chi-Wei of the competent authority, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), were invited to give lectures on the topics of “Inspection, Control, and Management of Food Safety, and Disposal of Unsafe Food Products” and “Discussion of Food Safety Cases and Practical Cooperation with Judicial Agencies”, respectively.
Professor Jiang Chi-Gung of National Taiwan University’s Graduate Institute of Toxicology (Attending Physician of the Department of Integrated Diagnostics and Therapeutics, National Taiwan University Hospital) was also invited to give a lecture on “Risks in Food Safety, Food Additives, and Toxic Hazards”.
Furthermore, on-site observation courses were also arranged with the Academy’s Academic Affairs Department chief, Ms. Lu Hsiao-Yun, leading workshop participants to visit the FDA’s “War Room”. Through the visit, workshop participants had the chance to fully understand how the War Room strengthened food and drug safety, risk management and crisis management through systematic integration, data analysis, and public opinion monitor.
This workshop aimed at enhancing professional know-how of food security issues so as to facilitate future investigation of related cases.
