The 10th Seminar of Judicial Reform Held on December 2, 2016 – Unified Judicial Administration

Inviting NTU professor of law Lin Ming-hsin and NCKU professor of political science Wang Chin-shou as keynote speakers, the 10th seminar of judicial reform on “Unified Judicial Administration” was held by the Academy on December 2, 2016. Professor Lin Ming-hsin, who has long been concerned with the issue of unified judicial administration, examined and made suggestions on the role of the Judicial Yuan from the perspectives of Judicial Yuan as the authority in charge of adjudication and unified power to initiate substantive and procedural laws. From the perspectives of judicial independence, judicial administration, and democratic accountability, Professor Wang Chin-shou discussed democratic accountability and the bureaucratization of the judiciary in Taiwan to analyze whether or not it is more appropriate to hand over the administration of justice to the court or the political department in a democracy. In addition, Director Lin Li-ying of the Department of Planning, Ministry of Justice was specially invited as discussant to give her responses to the views expressed by the keynote speakers, as well as exchanging opinions with seminar participants.
